DIY Fancy Herb Bath

Sometimes we need to feel pampered for a while, just to balance out the grosser things in life. Promise yourself that for every yucky thing you have to deal with, (dirty diapers, cleaning the bathroom, doing dishes, wiping snotty noses, you get the idea) you'll treat yourself to something good.

The magnesium in the Epsom salt eases your muscles and helps scour anything nasty from your skin, while the rosemary and mint leave you feeling refreshed. If you have any other favorite herbs, you can throw them in as well. But the best thing about this bath is how simple it is; after the day you've had, simple is exactly what you need!

Ingredients / Materials:
1 handful fresh rosemary (do not use if epileptic or pregnant; can substitute rose petals)
1 handful fresh mint
1/4 cup Epsom salt
1 pair of clean nylons or cheesecloth

To Use:
Open the cheesecloth or cut the foot off a pair of clean nylons, leaving enough extra material to knot the opening shut. Put the herbs into the bag, knot tightly if you're using a nylon or tie if the cheesecloth, and drop the bundle in a hot bath. This herb bag works like a teabag, so the water should be very warm. Add the salt to the water and stir. Without removing the bag, climb into the tub. The herbs release more fragrance the longer you soak.

Soak. Breathe. Tug on a bath mask and try to clear your mind. Continue soaking. Repeat as needed.

  1. oh my goodness this sounds divine! Anything with Epsom salts after a long day of chasing kiddos around is perfect for me, and the rosemary and mint I have growing outside in my garden, which makes this just perfect! :)

  3. Epsom salt is great -- it's supposed to help you sleep better, my doctor told me.

What's sad is that often I take a bath at night, not because I WANT to go to the trouble of cleaning the tub (since no one else in this house is capable of doing it) and then soaking, but because I want to shut those doors and just be left ALONE!
