Make it: Snowflake Princess Tiara

For us, this was a 15 minute craft project that my three year old and I worked on while we were waiting for lunch to finish cooking... but it would easily be turned into a fancier project for older kids with careful cutting and a little more time invested.

Materials:
  • card stock (ours is blue and white)
  • glue
  • stapler (or tape)
  • glitter!
Step One: Cut out paper snowflake

Now I assume that everyone knows how to make one of these - fold paper, cut out patterns, open, and VOILA! Snowflake.

But have you SEEN the snowflakes over on Cathe Holden's amazing blog Just Something I Made? Seriously, I would love to see a snowflake tiara made with one of these!

If you need a simple snowflake-making tutorial, just click here!

I like how my snowflake reminded me of Batman. Does anyone else see that, or am I just delusional?

Step Two: Glue Snowflake to Colored Card stock

I had to do this step to reinforce the snowflake because my kiddo is only three and I knew that the snowflake would be ripped to shreds in seconds if I didn't reinforce it.

First, cut your snowflake in half. You'll only need one half per tiara.

This is also when I cut two strips of card stock and stapled them together, sizing them into a loop that fit my daughter's head.

Step Three: GLITTER!

Glitter is magic, as far as I'm concerned. My 3 year old agrees, so of course this project needed glitter.

Because we were working quickly, trying to get this project done before lunch was finished, I did the glue painting and Annelie did the glittering. If you have more time and a lot of patience, just let your kiddo do it all! 'Tis the season for mass quantities of glitter, so go nuts!

Step Four: Put it all Together

If you don't have a stapler, you can tape or glue it all together.

Step Five: SMILE FOR THE CAMERA!

This was the easiest step - Annelie was quite happy to be a smiling Snowflake Princess!

Enjoy!

xoxo,
